Tide Sister 007 first appeared on paper in 1979.
She is a reimagining of one of the mermaids I drew as a child. Nearly five decades later, I returned to the original drawing, keeping as much of her childhood design as I could while letting her surface again as a Tide Sister.
Her long yellow hair, gray tail, little red fish and sea creature eating seaweed beside her came directly from my original 1979 drawing.
The Tide Sisters are a growing collection of small original mermaids, each with her own colors, expression, and personality. No two are exactly alike. They surface one by one—or sometimes in schools—as part of an ongoing collection of 300.
